Fine strain
Fine straining means passing a drink through a fine-mesh sieve, usually as well as the shaker's strainer, so no ice shards or pulp end up in the glass. It's another name for double straining.
In practice
Use a small conical strainer or a tea strainer held over the glass. Recipes say "fine strain" and "double strain" for the same thing. It gives a cleaner look and texture, especially in a coupe or cocktail glass with no ice.
