Shown: Old Fashioned

A rocks glass is a short, wide tumbler with a heavy base, used for spirits and drinks served over ice. It's also called an old fashioned or lowball glass.

  • Also: Old fashioned glass, Lowball

In practice

It usually holds 6 to 10 oz. The wide mouth fits one large ice cube and leaves room to build or muddle in the glass. The Old Fashioned, Negroni and Whiskey Sour are often served in one.
