How it’s served
Neat
Neat means a spirit poured straight from the bottle into a glass at room temperature, with no ice and no mixer.
In practice
Order whiskey neat and you get it as it is, often in a rocks glass or a tulip-shaped tasting glass. It's different from "up", which means chilled with ice and then strained, and from "on the rocks", which means served over ice.
