How to make a Spritz
To make a Spritz, build over ice in a rocks glass: 2 oz prosecco, 1⅓ oz Campari and 1½ oz soda water.
You'll need
- Prosecco2 oz
- Campari1⅓ oz
- Soda Water1½ oz
Instructions
- 1
Fill a rocks glass with ice cubes.
- 2
Pour in Campari.
- 3
Top with prosecco and soda water.
- 4
Give it one gentle stir.
Why build it in the glass? Nothing here needs shaking, and pouring straight in keeps the prosecco and soda water fizzy.
Spritz questions
What does a Spritz taste like, and is it sweet?
Yes, it's on the sweet side: it's mostly bitter and sweet. It's a medium drink at about 10% ABV once mixed.
How much alcohol is in a Spritz?
About 10% ABV after mixing with ice, about as strong as a glass of wine.
What's the difference between a Spritz and an Aperol Spritz?
Both use prosecco and soda water. The Spritz adds Campari, while the Aperol Spritz uses Aperol. Both are built in the glass, but the Spritz goes in a rocks glass and the Aperol Spritz in a wine glass.
What can I use instead of campari?
Aperol (lighter, sweeter) will work.
How do I make a pitcher of Spritzes?
For 6 drinks, mix 8⅓ oz Campari in a jug and chill it. Top each glass with prosecco and soda water as you serve, so it stays fizzy.
What glass do you serve a Spritz in?
A rocks glass.
