How to make an Alexander

To make an Alexander, shake with ice and strain into a cocktail glass: ½ oz gin, ½ oz Creme de Cacao, 2 oz light cream and 1 nutmeg.

    Chill a cocktail glass: fill it with ice and water while you mix, then tip it out.

    Add gin, creme de cacao, light cream and nutmeg to a cocktail shaker.

    Fill the shaker with ice.

    Shake hard for 10-15 seconds, until the outside is frosty.

    Strain into the chilled cocktail glass.

Why shake? Light cream blends in smoothly only with a hard shake.
